Q: Should I set my thermostat at a constant temperature during the summer months or should I turn it off while we are away and then turn it on when we are home? Which will save me money in the long run?
A: During the summer months, Desert Tech, Inc. recommends that you set your thermostat back during the day when you aren't at home. We do however, recommend that you not set it more than five to seven degrees lower than your desired temperature.
Another recommendation would be to have a programmable thermostat
installed so the thermostat setting would change automatically and
you won't have to worry about doing it manually. Setting the
temperature back when you aren't home can save large amounts of
money on your utility bills.
